The Dutch Touch is a gay friendly organisation. However Brazil is not comparable with for instance The Netherlands in this respect, but we can state that in Brazil the gay lifestyle is more and more tolerated and accepted. Especially this is the case in the bigger cities like Rio, Sao Paulo and Fortaleza. There are many possibilities to have a very gay holiday! Read for more info here or the Info page.
Both in Rio the Janeiro and in Fortaleza there are many places for exclusively men/women/mixed to go to. From small intimate bars and café’s which are gay friendly up to huge disco’s where, especially the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, sometimes hundreds of gay people gather around.
As the weather during the evening and nights usually is still warm and comfortable, there is also a lot to do around these gay locations. A lot of small stands at the edge of streets offer cheap alcoholic drinks. The streets are crowded with gay people in all kinds of appearance. You can talk, view, show off and be seen. Especially this ‘being seen’ will be for you the case! Just as European people most of the time feel that South-American people are physically attractive, Brazilian people often finds Europeans very beautiful. They just love (dark) blond hair, light skin and eyes. That’s also why Brazilian gays tend to see European bachelors quickly as potential candidates to start a relationship with. Of course is there own national economic situation also due to this. We noticed several times that Brazilians gay guys found their loved ones and enjoy nowadays a happy existence in European countries with them.
compilatie3.jpgEuropeans are very popular within the main part of the Brazil gay community. You can compare it with the experience of a famous popstar: all eyes are focussed on you when you show up. And definitely not only when you have the ideal measures or looks. The only fact that you are European is more than enough reason to be contacted by many gay people with the request to get to know you. An amazing experience. You are the centre of the attention and even when you are a bit older: it seems your second youth!
The Dutch Touch likes to tell you where the best places are located and we even made some deals with them. So you can get your first entrance free in some big disco’s, or have your free welcome cocktail. And in Fortaleza even, you get a special VIP-treatment meaning that you are allowed to have entrance to the VIP room, where you have this excellent view over the dance floor and shows. It’s also possible to have your own private and relaxed drink at the bar there within this special room.
Did you meet your (holiday) love….? What a pity for those who booked a hotel, because they can not do anything more then just verbally tell how much they like their new found love. Maybe in a (gay) baracca on the beach you can quickly give a kiss, but the guards will ensure that this moment doesn’t last very long. In Brazil hotel guests are usually refused to enter their hotel room with their private visitors. When you are lucky (and that would be really an exception) it is permitted, but only after your visitor showed an ID-card filling in a form and after having paid a hotel night extra. This is of course not only the case for gays, but for everyone who would like to bring a visitor over to his or her hotel room. However this can be frustrating and so non-romantic. But lucky you, because you rented your own apartment by The Dutch Touch. In the condominiums these apartments belong to, these rules and hotel policies are applicable, because The Dutch Touch made clear agreements about it. You decide yourself who, when en for how long you want to have somebody over in your own apartment!
Right now we can offer you great deals! We have low-budget accommodations up to top-penthouses. So even with not too much money, you can have your own apartment. Or come together with your friends! Your stay can be really cheap with a fully furnished apartment in Fortaleza, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The apartment has ocean view and is suitable for 4 persons. We can offer this for only 29,50 euro a day (lowseason). Facilities: spacy, clean pool with bar for habitants, gym, sauna and a very well kept garden. Discretely secured 24/7.

The pictures on this page offer an impression of friends we met during our holidays. Some of them live now in Europe and started a relationship with someone they met in Brazil. Others would really like to do so and do hope they will meet their true love. Maybe even you…?
The thing which is so nice about Brazilians is that they think so differently compared to the European people. For them, age and appearance (values that appeared to be the most important in the gay community in Europe) are so much less important. Brazilians are often romantic and sensual minded and look for stability. You have a small beer belly or maybe your age is above middle-average? They really don’t care. If you are reliable and honest about your love, they will go for you the full 100%!
But attention! Let’s be clear about this: although in general people in Brazil have a view about prostitution which differs from the one we have in Europe, The Dutch Touch, without trying to be moralists, does not want to promote this. The circumstances in which people prostitute themselves in Brazil are tragic and hard. Besides of this we explicitly want to state that child prostitution (which is increasingly happening) is not tolerable for us! In cases noticed we or our colleagues will contact the local police. For this reason it will be specified in our rental contract that it is not allowed to have persons under the age of 18 years in your apartment. For all the rest, it’s your own business.

The guesthouse is very well located in Santa Teresa because it is very near to Lapa (the nightlife district with lots of music bars and very pittoresc clubs) and far from the favelas. People can walk from the house to downtown (about 3 min. walk), busses and the traditional tramway of Santa Teresa (Bondinho) stop at the house’s front door and we have an agreement with a very safe cab company to attend our guests.
Our localisation is very convenient because people can go very easily in the center of Rio (visits of museums, baroco churches, shopping, the Sambodromo where to attend desfilés during the Carnival), We are 10 min drive to Sugar Loaf and Corcovado (Redemptor Christ), the 2 main attractions in Rio, and 15 min. drive from Copacabana and Ipanema’s beaches, crossing the Tijuca forest and the main tunnel. Being in the center of everything, people can also have a rest in the huge tropical garden at the swimming pool, if they are tired of Rio’s noisy life ! The very good thing is that we only have 5 rooms, so our place is very quiet. Friends can eventually rent the whole house.
A very large mix of continental and brasilian breakfast is included in the rate : fresh fruit squeezed juice which changes every morning, fresh tropical fruits salad, toasts and a selection of different type of breads, tropical fruits jelly and marmelades with butter, home made cake, “misto-quente”, a brasilian speciality made with ham and cheese, yogurts, tea / coffee. During the day, tea, coffee and fesh water is offered to the guests.
The driver who waits for the guests in the Rio International airport, with the guests name on a panel and drive them to our house is included as well.
The habitual hotel services are included. Laundry, dry cleaning and pressing are not included.
A welcome Caïpirinha (national very nice alcoolised drink) is offered the first evening.
